Car accidents for Christmas

Christmas decorations are up already on Liberty Ave., Bloomfield's main drag, and it's only a week into November. But this is not a complaint about how Christmas starts earlier and earlier every year. No, the problem with Bloomfield's decoration is much more serious.

You see, they have hung from lamp posts and across the street many hundreds of Christmas lights, the colors of which are all red, green, and yellow. They are hung across the street at the same level as the traffic lights. Do you see the problem yet? Last night, driving down Liberty, I became so inured to the visual presence of red, yellow, and green lights above the street that I very nearly ran the light at Liberty and Millvale. Later, when I was coming home up Millvale, a car ran the same light directly in front of me. It can't be long until someone dies.
