Counterfactuals

Apparently, the famous Saturday Night Live video of an address by President-that-might-have-been Al Gore is no longer readily available on the internet, because of copyright claims made by NBC. (Have I mentioned how stupid I think our intellectual property laws are?) Probably you've seen it anyway. I wanted to link to it, because I found, today, a new, less humorous video that engendered in me the same feeling of longing for what could have been, mixed with an especially intense rage against the media institutions that destroyed that once-possible future.
